A briefing session was held on the morning of March the 8th, at the House of Lords.
This event was hosted by Nick Owen of BBC News and had speakers including:
- Dr Donal O'Donoghue - the new National Clinical Director of Renal Health;
- Dr Azhar Farooqi OBE - a GP in Leicester with a wealth of experience in community awareness projects;
- Nicola Thomas - Renal specialist nurse and senior lecturer, Institute of Health Sciences, City University, London
- Dr Kevin Harris - a Clinical Director for Renal Services and Urology and Honorary Consultant Nephrologist at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust
- Dr Simon de Lusignan - a GP and a course director of Biomedical Informatics at St George's Hospital School.
- Dr Steve Smith - a Clinical Director of Renal Services at Birmingham Heartlands Hospita
- Government and Patient representatives.
A wide range of interests and stakeholder groups have been encouraged to attend, including Commissioners of Renal Services, Renal Physicians, Medical/Clinical Directors, GPs, Work Force Planners, Renal Nurses and MPs.
